The moment it opens up and the outdoors seem a possibility, we've lined up three super treks for you and your family.  We've kept a few things in mind while we do this:
  1. The trek start point is accessible. Which means it's easy to drive, fly, train or bus it to the nearest city.
  2. It's an easy-grade trek that can be done by kids and beginners alike.
  3. These are all located in areas where social distancing is possible.

FAMILY AND BEGINNER TREKKING PROGRAMS - A SNEAK PEEK

PIR PANJAL PANORAMA

This fantastic trek begins from Manali and takes us through charming Himachali villages, along the banks of the Beas river and into the Kulu valley. Like almost all Outward Bound Parent & Child treks, this trip is expedition style camping and trekking. Which means parents and children move from campsite to campsite setting up their own tents and enjoying new vistas everyday. There's a lot more learning here and infinitely more exciting!

SUMMITING NAG TIBBA

At 10,000 ft (3048 m), Nag Tibba is the highest mountain in the lower Himalayan region of Uttarakhand - and the perfect trek for beginners and kids alike. The Nag Tibba Base Camp at 6,000 ft is the perfect start point of this trek. We move expedition style and set up tents near a stream every evening. Two nights at Camp Spillway in Dehradun is  the perfect way to end this expedition.

ALPINE MEADOWS TREK

What better way to spend time with your child than in the great outdoors? This is the perfect camping and trekking trip for parents and children alike. This is Gulmarg, Kashmir - verdant green, laid out with a carpet of bright yellow  butter cups ,  all in the backdrop of white mountain tops. Nature is truly an artist!

Some Messages from our Parents and Children:

“Thank you for this wonderful trip you put together for us mothers and our kids. The whole team as been absolutely amazing in taking care of the kids.  Whether we were hiking or rafting or even at the temple, they watched our kids like a hawk to ensure not even one ever went out of sight..the experiences, knowledge and skills that we go back with is something that each one of us will treasure and put to use in many ways in our journey of life.
- Shalini Rattan, Parent and Child Program March 2017
“The whole program was very well designed, organized and implemented. It provided a great learning experience not  only for our kids but even for adults. We have all learned many things from this trip...it was a memorable trip and I would like to thank your wonderful team for taking good care of our kids and us. We felt our kids were very safe with you all around.  I really hope that we go on many more trips with you.
- Rehana Turra, Parent and Child Program March 2017
“I really enjoyed the trip because I learned many new things that I didn't know, some huge ones being learning how to pitch a tent and take it down, the correct types of footing while going uphill and downhill and new directions for rafting like holding on to the lifeline if a rock was incoming. Some smaller ones included not to try to cross the Ganga River, to look directly ahead if you are car sick, how to light a bonfire, to listen carefully and to always believe in yourself that nothing is impossible.
- Burhan Turra, Grade 7 student, Parent and Child Program March 2017

WHY "OUTWARD BOUND"?

In nautical terms, when a ship leaves the safety of its harbour for the challenges of the open seas, she is said to be "Outward Bound".

Similarly, when young people leave the comfort of their homes and workplaces to venture into unfamiliar territory, or when they change their usual way of thinking and adapt to new ideas, they are said to be Outward Bound. The programs offered equip its participants to grow through challenges helps them to head out bravely into unknown waters.
“A ship in harbour is safe, but that is not what ships are built for. - William Shedd
