    PIR PANJAL PANORAMA

At 10,000 ft (3048 m), Nag Tibba or the "Serpent's Peak" is the highest mountain in the lower Himalayan region of Uttarakhand - and the perfect trek for beginners and kids alike. Situated 60 KM from Mussourie in the Tehri Garhwal region, the peak is believed to be the home of the "Nag Devta" (the God of Snakes) and hence the name.

The Nag Tibba Base Camp at 6,000 ft is the perfect start point of this trek. We move expedition style and set up tents near a stream the next day. The last night at Camp Spillway Retreat in Dehradun is  the perfect way to end this expedition.

This basic trek is one of the few in the lower Himalaya region where you actually get to summit a small mountain top and is a great trek to begin your adventure journey!

COVID-19 SAFETY PROTOCOLS

At Outward Bound, safety and hygiene have always been on the top of our “must-have” list. And now we are closely watching the new research as it comes out on a daily basis and have deep dived into our SOPS. We’ve made a new list and  we're checking it more than twice. We will continue to review the latest information from health experts and government authorities, and will be passing along the most up-to-date and relevant information to you so you can plan accordingly.

Our Covid-19 Safe SOPs are based on the simple principle of ASSIST.

This is the perfect camping and trekking trip for beginners and children. It's a easy-grade trek, except for that last trudge up to the summit. And you know you're reaching there when you spot the prayers flags fluttering in the wind. A standard practise all across the India and Nepal Himalaya - fluttering prayer flags mark the highest point of the valley and thety are a welcome sight indeed! And that feeling of accomplishment once you get there is matchless!

Spend some time taking in the amazing vistas - you will see the massifs of Swargarohini in the Bandarpoonch range and Kedarnath in the Gangotri range. Chug in some juice, snack on a sandwich, and nibble on come chocolates - all part of the packed "happy meal" you will get to keep those hunger pangs at bay!

A Quick Look At Your Plan For the Next 5 Days

DAY 1: ARRIVE AT DEHRADUN | DRIVE TO NAG TIBBA BASE CAMP - 102 km  | 4 HRS | 1830 M
Easily accessible by air, rail and road, this is perhaps one of the best short treks the lower Himalayas offer. Once we reach Dehradun, it's just a 4 hour drive to Nag Tibba Base Camp and the route takes you to Patwari Village via Mussoorie and Kempty Falls. Beautiful drive that gives you some amazing vistas of the Doon valley!

This camp is at 6,000 ft and you will immediately feel the drop in air temperature as you approach. We will allocate equipment today and brief you on the trek that starts the next morning. We will also teach you how to set up your own tent and how to pack it up - useful skills needed once the expedition starts.

Time permitting, we'll head out for an acclimatization walk towards the little hamlets that dot the campsite.

Dinner and overnight stay at Nag Tibba Base Camp in Swiss tents on twin sharing basis.
DAY 2:  TREK TO CAMP 1 | 2 - 3 HRS | 2300 M
It's short hike today - perfect for kids and beginners. It will help you understand your strengths and give those legs a good shakedown for what is to follow the next day. You're moving gradually uphill,  so it's best to take it easy, enjoy the view while you move. There's no hurry - we got all day! We'll reach Camp 1 around lunch time where a lovely hot meal awaits. After that, set up your own tents, take a stroll around the campsite, read a book or play some soccer. In short, take it easy and just breathe in the crisp mountain air and enjoy the wide open spaces. And yes, if you'd like to help cook the night's email, please do feel free to enter the kitchen tent!

Enjoy the evening with bonfire. Overnight in expedition tents.
DAY 3: TREK TO SUMMIT OF NAG TIBBA - JHANDI TOP AND BACK TO BASE CAMP | 5 - 6 HRS | 3048 M
We'll gain around 750 metres today and the summit gives you some spectacular views of the massifs Swargarohini in the Bandarpoonch range and Kedarnath in the Gangotri range, all 6000 M peaks in this part of the Himalaya.

Sit on top of the summit and enjoy the breathtaking views while you eat your packed lunch. A short while later, we will make our way down to the Base Camp. A well-deserved hot chai and snacks await, followed by a blazing bonfire. It's also reflection time, when you look back to see what you accomplished. Dd you find it hard? Were you close to giving up? What made you push yourself just that little bit more? The answers, especially from the kids, will often surprise you.

Overnight in Swiss tents on twin sharing basis.
DAY 4: DRIVE NAG TIBBA BASE CAMP TO CAMP SPILLWAY RETREAT, DEHRADUN | 104 km | 4 HRS
Wake up to the smell of the fresh mountain air and sip your tea while you watch the mountains around you. Pack up after breakfast - it's time to head back. Packed lunch will be served on the way.   We'll drive into Camp Spillway Retreat by late afternoon.  Situated right at the bottom of the valley with a little river passing by, this is the perfect place to spend your last night. A good-sized swimming pool that is fed by water from the river nearby is the perfect place to sit back and enjoy what's left of an amazing getaway! Ropes and obstacle courses will keep the kids occupied while you sit back and kick up your heels a bit.

Bonfire, reflection circle and certificate distribution.

Overnight in Swiss tents on twin sharing basis.
DAY 5:  (OPTIONAL) drive to shivpuri for river rafting & kayaking 101 | STAY AT BULL'S RETREAT
You can head back home today if you like, or... you could join us on a really exciting day rafting on the river Ganga! Shivpuri is the rafting capital of India and the Ganga river has some of the most amazing white water for rafting. You can't possible come all the way here and not get in some of those rapids! Rafting is allowed only for 12 years and above and while the older lot head out for some white water action,  the younger ones will head to the Himalayan beach for some Kayaking lessons with Outward Bound instructors.  Hot lunch will be served at NIM Beach where we will pitch up changing tents for you to get out of your wet clothing. The younger ones will join in. After lunch, we head to MHE's forest resort Bull's Retreat - named after India's most famous mountaineer-soldier Col. Narinder "Bull" Kumar.
