"It's the unpredictability that makes you uncomfortable", says Bill Eckstrom in his TEDx Talk. And then he says something that is the corner stone of all Outward Bound programs:
“You have to learn to embrace discomfort, because it's the only environment where sustained and exponential growth can occur. - Bill Eckstrom, Performance Coach and Founder of Ecsell Institute. |
And that is exactly what we do in our Outward Bound Professional Programs. These aren't merely "company off-sites". This isn't about taking 200 people out for a 3-day holiday with a couple of PowerPoint presentations thrown in to rationalize the exercise. This is about taking your core team out of their comfort zones and watch them grow. And how much they grow will depend a lot on how they respond to the discomfort. Our instructors and facilitators will cajole, goad, and urge you. Because if left to themselves, most people tend to, consciously or unconsciously, select the comfort of routine.
Our Professional Programs focus on interpersonal and group dynamics, leadership, creativity, innovation and the human impacts of organizational change. We do this with an intelligent blend of outdoor adventures and customized, experience-based learning sessions. Our approach is multi-disciplinary and we bring together psychometric and OD tools, along with applied behavioral processes to achieve your goals.

The 3 Tenets Around Which All Our Professional Programs Are Based
- Every program is designed to take you out of your comfort zone. Because we believe that the best way to learn is by doing and experiencing, not just sitting and listening.
- The outdoors is our classroom - an oxymoron if there ever was one! Camping, trekking, white-water rafting, dune bashing or scuba diving - every moment has its own learning and challenges.
- Every program is designed so you get an understanding of your own abilities, break down pre-conceived barriers, and stretch yourself way beyond the physical constraints you've set for yourself.
There is no dearth of professional training programs in the marketplace, but typically, organizations that choose Outward Bound Himalaya-India are looking for something beyond just a "corporate offsite." Yes, our clients are looking to improve communications at the workplace, but they are also looking for Emotional Intelligence - self-awareness, self-regulation, motivation, empathy and the ability to build a rapport with co-workers.
In a sense, our work involves the human element in ways that combine the head, heart, and resolve. It is a collaborative process that produces interesting insights and learning, and our intent is to ensure that participants are challenged, have fun in the process, and can transfer the learnings to their workplace.

We will work with you to identify timelines and expected outcomes, and deliver the breakthrough results you want to achieve within the available time-frame. We work with all levels of an organisation, from entry level positions and emerging leaders through to executive leadership teams.

3 LEVELS OF PROFESSIONAL PROGRAMS
Corporate ExpeditionsCorporate Expeditions Programs are usually designed for young entrants and mid to senior level management. They typically run for 4- 6 days. You will learn trust and patience, motivation and determination, leadership and collaboration. And through all of this, you will understand how much more you are actually capable of, and be surprised with what you can achieve, if only you put your mind to it. Often, the significance of what you have achieved will dawn on you only at the end of the day at reflection time - or perhaps even later. |
Live The AdventureLive The Adventure Programs are always in the great outdoors and run for typically 3 - 4 days. The programs are designed to make you step out of your comfort zones, to rough it out a bit, experience something for the first time, and through all of this, learn to trust, listen, and communicate - skills needed to develop the leader within you - away from the four walls of an office. |
Fun LearningOur Fun Learning Programs are specifically designed for corporates looking for a 1 - 2 day program. With WFH a reality, it gets even more necessary for teams to meet up - at least every quarter. Besides catching up with work colleagues, an outdoor program is the perfect way to think out of the box, to realign strategies, to learn by doing and experiencing, not just sitting and listening. These are typically in-city programs, with innovative team games that work as ice-breakers with insight into problem solving, innovation, critical thinking, communication and collaboration. |
